Mt Buller was the siting of the Club's first lodge, completed in 1947 on a site that is now part of the enlarged "CSIR Car Park". The Club was given a new site within the village area and the current 30 bed lodge was built there in 1984.

The lodge features comfortable family bunk style rooms, three living areas, a balcony, BBQ area and open fire. Blankets and pillows are provided, BYO sheets and pillow cases.

The kitchen is a large, functional, commercial food preparation area with two of everything and oodles of storage space. It easily handles a fully booked lodge. Lounge and dining areas are generous in space with a big open fireplace around which many refreshments are had, many a lie told and just too much fun generally had.

There is a toll payable to gain entry to the National Park which includes parking based on how long you stay. The car parks are well below the village with transport to your lodge by Toyota Troop carriers with your luggage on the roof (about $12 per person). Count your luggage and many hands make light work of this busy time.

Your car needs antifreeze, snow chains (these can be hired), a shovel, a brick to chock a wheel as you should leave the handbrake off (it can freeze on) and the car in gear, tilt your wipers out otherwise the weight of a heavy snowfall can bend them and if your tyres are well worn, replace them before a ski trip. Koomerang lost the record to Peter Brock 25 years ago and it can't be beat. So take it easy, take a break, and make it back safely.
