Falls Creek - Sastrugi
Parking is in the car parks at the bottom of the village on the Bogong High Plains Rd and access to the lodge is provided by over snow transports. A toll is payable upon entering the village which includes parking.

To get there from Melbourne, take the Hume Hwy to Glenrowan, have a break at "Maccas", then just further on take the turnoff to Myrtleford along the Snow Road to the Ovens Hwy. Continue through Myrtleford after which you can choose to either turnoff on the Happy Valley Rd (the scenic route) to the Kiewa Valley Hwy and on to Mt Beauty; or you can travel on down through Bright and at Germantown take the Tawonga Rd (the hilly route) to Mt Beauty. After Mt Beauty follow the Bogong High Plains Rd up to Falls Creek. Although a couple of hours further to drive to from Melbourne compared to Mt Buller, it can often be worth it as Falls Creek is well inside the Great Dividing Range on the Bogong High Plains, which usually attracts greater snow fall.

Falls Creek has undergone some upgrading with the opening of more runs and extensive snowmaking facilities. It offers great skiing and boarding for beginners and experts alike. There is an abundance of nightlife in the village with lots of little bars and cocktail lounges tucked away in the commercial lodges.

Summer in the mountains!

These lodges are an under used resource in summer. Falls Creek offers fly fishing, horse riding, mountain bike riding (they run the chairlifts on certain days), bush walking, tennis, four wheel driving, etc. As a member of Koomerang, the lodges are available to club members all year round and at half price out of season. So enjoy your winter skiing here and take a break from the Portsea crowd this summer with some healthy mountain air.

Alpine Driving

There maybe signs that will instruct you to fit chains, so please obey these instructions for your own safety. Nevertheless when driving in winter conditions such as snow, ice, fog and wind remember these following tips. Ensure your headlights are on, keep off the brakes as much as possible and generally lower your speed. Remember prevention is better than cure.

Don't forget to put antifreeze in your radiator and take a shovel in case you're lucky enough to have the car snowed in. When parked, tilt your wipers out, chock a wheel, put the car in gear and leave the handbrake off. Need new tyres, then replace them before the ski trip.
